Books on programming

Practical Common LISP

To learn the programming language LISP, I ordered this book in 2010. To make it short, this book is worth its money. It is extremely useful, if you want to have a reference and a detailed introduction. You will find it very easy to try the given examples and to understand the idea of LISP. If you really want to learn that wonderful programming language, you have to buy this book.

Hackers and Painters: Essays on the Art of Programming

It was a coincidence that I found this book in 2009. The introductory text sounded very promising and a short reading test confirmed this feeling. Paul Graham describes in his book with a few words the problems of the programmers in the economically dominated workplace.

Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution

This book is a story about the history of hacking and the persons behind it. Levy writes about the ethics of hacking and the rules that hackers have created for themselves and their community.
